What method have you found the most reliable and safe to clean and improve conductivity of flashlight threads. I've got a few cheap lights that are pretty unreliable and it appears the threads are the issue (flickering light levels...can be improved by twisting the ends back and forth a few times.)
Some of the ones I've seen mentioned are WD40 (though it will eat seals and o-rings), drain cleaner (oxidation?) and polishing compound.
Also, what lube do you use on the threads after cleaning?
