Hey guys:
I am a flashlight newbie - so forgive me if I post in the wrong forum.
I have just ordered myself the new Military Series Jetbeam M1X.
I also ordered the cell extender to accommodate 2 X 18650's.
I am a fan of 18650 format batteries, especially the protected ones for their capacity as well as safety.
Now, I have done some research and my conclusion is that FOR THE MONEY I get the best performance bang for my buck if I were to also order the Trustfire Black True 2400maH Protected 18650 cells.
My reason for sticking with these 2400 mAH Protected cells rather than the new fangled 3000 MaH or 2600 MaH ones, are that I read somewhere that even though they are "only 2400mAH", one gets more runtime in real-life usage for a big flashlight like the M1X.
This is due to the high current draw of the light and the relatively low resistance of the Trustfire protected black 2400 MaH's compared to the higher resistance of the other higher MaH's.
That translates into longer real-world run-times.
I plan of ordering 4 so that I can always have a spare pair with for long run times with my cell extender on the Jetbeam M1X.
Questions:
1) Have I made the right choice based on what I have written above?
2) Are the Trustfire 18650 protected 2400 mAH black color cells even physically compatible with the Jetbeam M1X? Will the 2 cells physically fit into the light with the cell extender screwed on?
I have heard horror stories of people enthusiastically pre bulk ordering loads and loads of 18650 protected cells of some brand or other for their favourite branded high powered LED flashlight only to find that they can't fit the darned things into the battery tubes because those cells are too long or two wide or some other physical "defect".
Please someone who has experience with both the Trustfire blacks and the Jetbeam M1X please answer my questions above.
Many thanks.
Cheers
