Hi,

I know this issue is discussed at length, I have read many threads on it, but couldn't find anything updated recently. Maybe there is new research or more experience.

I want to buy my roommate a Quark Mini 123 and batterie(s) and a charger. He will use it for EDC and a bike headlight (presumably on max, 30 min trip, evening only). I am more concerned with safety and ease of use than capacity or cost.

I have read that since the qmini is not buck-boost, it gets very hot after 3-5 minutes on standard LiCoO2 3.7v batteries. So those are out.

1) Am I correct that I want LiFePo4?

2) I have read that AW's LiFePO4 CR123A's are the gold standard. And I get them direct from AW on CPFMP. True?

3) How are Tenergy's LiFePo4?

4) AW seems to recommend the UltraFire 3.0V/3.6V CR123A Charger. Is this the best? (This route also offers the possibility of some 3.7's for non-bike adventures.)

5) Other chargers: A) UltraFire WF-188, B) Nano Li-ion Single 3.0V CR123A Charger, C) The charger that comes with TENERGY 4 PACK RCR123A 3V 900MAH RECHARGEABLE LI-ION BATTERY WITH SMART CHARGER?

Thank you! lovecpf
