Hi Folks,
finally I did the mod with a standard Black Diamond Gemini (2 standard 4mm LEDs and one krypton bulb).
The main goal was to get more throw and a enhanced runtime compared to the original setting.
Sorry, but I am not able to post any pictures :-(
1. Screw off the front lens
2. Draw out the screws of the black plastik holder and pull out the whole thing
3. nip out the part of the holder, the ceramic socket is attatched to.
4. I arctic epoxied a Seoul P4 on a CPU cooler I made fitting into the black plastic holder.
5. Glue the LED and the cooler right into the black holder at a distance fitting with a IMS27mm reflector to the mounted front window.
6. As I want to get best runtime of my batteries, I guessed a GD 500 converter to be best for my purposes.
7. Due to the fakt, that the GD is a buck/boost converter, it was not possible to build two stage brightness :-(
8. After wiring, I glued the converterboard to the deepest location in the housing of the gemini head, installed the black plastic holder, mounted the reflector and the front lens and....boooooommmmm!!!
That little beast is incredible bright with a perfect throw/hotspot/sidespill ratio. I was astonished about the results. The only thing is, the light is much too bright for reading or doing any near distance work, but perfect for (off- road) cycling!
Pherhaps will I be able to provide any pics later on.
Does anyone knows where I can get a diffusion mirror for that little beast?
