Is there a FAQ on blade material?
What's the difference -

154CM
VG10

AUS8
AUS8, TiNi
AUS8A

There is on the Internet. http://www.spyderco.com/edge-u-cation/steelchart.html.

154CM= ATS34
VG10 is a laminate

AUS8 is plain and TiNi is Titanium Nitrite electroplated
AUS8 A never heard of.

For what it's worth, 154CM= ATS34 is very close to Sandvik which is used a lot in European Laguioles.
I had a custom knife made of ATS34 and I love it. No need to look further than these really. TiNi is nice for a tactical knife but I like plain steels for my everyday cutlery

In a nutshell:

154CM - American made stainless steel. It used to be used in jet engines (fan blades, I think). It has 4% Molybdenum which gives it good "hot hardness". 1.05% Carbon.

VG10 - Japanese made stainless steel. Characteristics similar to 154CM but perhaps a little more brittle (it really depends on the heat treat). It is often laminated with 420J for improved toughness. 0.95 - 1.05% Carbon.

AUS8 - Midrange Japanese made stainless steel. This steel is often used in mass production knives. It is easier to sharpen but will not resist wear as well as the steel mentioned above. 0.70 - 0.75% Carbon.

More info in these links :twothumbs.

Great choice. The Axis lock on these knives is great, good steel, lightweight, and carry great in a jean pocket.
