I got most of the parts in today to put together a ROP M@g. I bought the borofloat lens and Big D bulbs from lighthound and a 3D mag from walmart. I haven't decided on the batteries yet, but I did have some 18650 cells so I made a holder and spacer for 2x18650 and fired it up with the ROP low bulb. This thing rocks!!:rock:I was afraid to try the high bulb for fear of melting the stock reflector.

Anybody know how long I can run the light before melting the stock reflector? With the 2x18650 setup I should get around 1:10 or so on a set of batteries, am I right? I'm using 2200mah cells and the bulb pulls about 1.9A. I know the adapters I built adds a lot of resistance, but so far I have $34 invested in this sleeper maglite.

Pretty fun, eh? I've read people say about 10 minutes before the ROP low melts the plastic Mag reflector. No personal experience though. Better order that aluminum reflector so you can try out the ROP high with no fear...

Congrats!
With the high bulb I wouldn't run it more than 10 minutes with the plastic reflector.
If you like a good beam get an organge peel reflector if you want a lot of throw but some artifacts get the mirror finished reflector.
