Can a degraded 168A cell be reconditioned?

The runtime of some of my Wolf Eyes 168A cells seems to have dropped by at least 30 percent after fewer than 20 cycles. I've been using Wolf Eyes fast chargers, which are "dumb." Can I restore the runtime by switching to a smart charger like the new Ultrafire?

One of my Pilas quit working after two cycles, never could get it to work again. After all Jon went through on the Lionheart thing I did not have the heart to ask him for help.

Looking forward, will using a smart charger help my Wolf Eyes cells last longer than if I continue using Wolf Eyes dumb chargers?

That is exactly what I did. The ultrafire is a little slower, but I have had much better luck with it.

Hi Paul,
Why didn't you contact me? Never mind! Send it back and I would be happy to replace it for ya. You probably want to try the new 2200mAh one's anyway ;)

Mike,
Thanks for your offer, but I need to test the cells in a 1-cell configuration (3.7V lamp) before I figure out which ones have dropped, and by how much. I don't think it's a defect in the cell(s); I think it's just that the Wolf Eyes CH_02 and DH-02 chargers are hard on the cells. Wolf Eyes should make it a priority to come up with a multistage smart charger to catch up with Pila and Ultrafire.

Elsewhere, I've written about my 150A and 168A cells whose buttons have squished flat. The squishes may have occurred from using taller aftermarket lamps (P91 with spring and RICO Alpha 9). I've had to retire two of those cells but I still have them and will send them to you to study if I do return the "diminished capacity" cells.
