Can you swap the emitter on an XR19 head?

Hey all,

I don't have an XR19 light [Although I drool constantly over the idea of another run of XR19Cs], but the thought struck me - can you ever swap the emitter in an XR19 head, or are they reflowed like the A19 heads at the shoppe? A Q5 bin would put out a not insignificant amount more light than a P2, right? :)

Cheers, all you lucky XR19C owners! :)

IIRC correctly Don uses at least P4 ... thus making a replacement not that attractive any more. But that is just IMHO of course ... :D

It's ~ 12% brightness increase from P4 --> Q5.
IMHO it's not worth it at the moment considering the $$$ or the amount of work that need to be done.

Not doing one before i have no direct experience but my hunch says to reflow an emitter on a new board and replace the old board.
:stupid:

Sable, if and when you do get hold of one, keep it for a week or two and I don't think you'd want to change it, they are just perfect :D

I know what you mean though, I considered(I can't believe I ever thought of it now:ohgeez:) getting the Cree swapped out for a Seoul before I got my hands on it. Once I had it, I saw the light, literally and figuratively and it has stayed gloriously standard :D

hope this helps, (probably not the wait to get one though :D;) )

Ian :)

Nope, sure doesn't help the wait...but it's kinda cool to see everyone saying how perfect the output is. I love the "oomph" my Ti-PD-S has, and I hear the XR19 is even more "throwy." That makes me happy no matter what! :)

Guess I'll keep the torch lit for another run of XR19s...they seem damn hard to find. :shrug:
