Forgive my ignorance, but the quad 219 plus optics used above drops into the Malkoff MD2 without issues, correct? I just got a few Malkoff's and I'd love one of these. If it does drop-in without issues, can someone please point me in the direction to get one.

Thanks!

Note: Reference this diagram if over or under exposure is mentioned. usually by 1 or 2 stops. Also if your display or display card shows colors in the "thousands of colors" range you may see unnatural rainbow-like rings and color banding in the photos. Everything should appear smooth with "millions of colors".

For an idea of what's involved in correcting color and exposure of the images:

1536zow.jpg

Original shot with the TX25C2 on the left, corrected version after color, exposure and white balance adjustments on the right. The original on the left was more color saturated compared to what's being observed so that had to be bumped down. Some green had to be taken out and the background exposure needed to be brought up. That and numerous other tweaks. It takes about 10-15 minutes per image if things aren't too bad.

What can't be adjusted is when a camera over exposes brighter hot spot areas in the center and consequently under exposes the outer edge of the spill beam. So in this case while everything is now very close tint wise and for the most part exposure wise, I'll note that the center of the hotspot is overexposed by about 2 stops. The outer edge is underexposed by about 1 stop.

Another example with the quad R4-5C

vymp94.jpg

Original on the left. Corrected on the right. This one didn't have as big an issue with hotspots due to the wider flood but colors needed a big tweak. I'll note that it's over exposed around the center by about a half stop (barely worth mentioning), and underexposed at the edges by about 1 stop. So for the most part the corrected images in the thread are exceptionally close to what's being observed in person.

The Carclo optics are for quad LED dropins. See 1st post for lens picture.

This set is a comparison using the camera close up to an artificial landscape plate #1.

This time adding a Xenon camera flash control shot. All lights 4" from the target shining from the upper left corner to center.

1st - Xenon Camera Flash
2nd - XP-G2 [R5-1C]
3rd
- Nichia 219 [SW45-B10]
4th -
XP-G2 [R5-5C]
5th - XP-G2 [R4-5B]

6th -
Malkoff M61WLL
7th - EagleTac TX25C2
XM-L2 U2

Camera flash taken facing square with the target. Camera shadow due to close proximity.

The Nichia 219 was the closest match to the Xenon control shot. The olive tinted R4-5B is surprising me more and more as well. It looks great with woodsy like scenes.

As expected the Nichia 219 was closest to the Xenon control shot even though the Xenon color rendering of the yellow grass puffs is less yellow. Keep in mind the camera flash (being attached to the camera) is facing square to the target instead of being off close to the upper left edge and angled downwards as the lights where. This is necessary to help bring out the shadows.
