OK, maybe not Christmas but after having had some problems with DX lately it was good to get 2 products that worked and to my house only days after I ordered them (ordered Friday from the east coast and arrived today on the west coast).

I'll make this a commentary rather than a full review since it's been done many times before I'm sure.

The ITP A3 (3 mode version) is amazing! I already have a Ultrafire WF-602c which is a (1) AAA single mode twisty. I like this light but since I was going to order the Thrunight drop-in anyway I decided to give this a try. I liked the idea of having 3 modes (no strobe) in a single AAA twisty.

The A3 is about 15mm shorter than the Ultrafire and almost 5mm smaller in diameter. They are both comparable on high so about 80 lumens I guess. The A3 also has medium (20 lumens) and low (1.5 lumens).

You can kind of use this light in momentary mode as was the case with the Ultrafire light as well. When you have just twisted it enough to go off you can compress the body halves and the light will come back on until you release pressure.

To carry it in your pocket you should twist it until you are no longer able to do this.

The clip is easily removable. It comes with a keychain as well that is removable.

I was just impressed by how small this light was.

The Thrunite R5 drop-in is a replacement for a defective DX light that I didn't want to wait another month or more for a replacement so I paid 2 1/2 times as much for the Thrunite but got it delivered as mentioned above in a few days.

There are some big (to me) improvements over the one I had. Both were fine as far as output and beam quality. The DX unit had strobes and a low of about 100 lumens.

The Thrunite drop-in has a low of 3 lumens and a medium of 120 lumens and no strobes!

Now I'm am at (light) peace...at least temporarily!

iTP A3? It is a great light. My only problem is that when I'm twisting it to On, sometimes it flashes on and off and I end up in Low. That, and I really like High the most and have to twist twice to get there. It would be great, and I mean *GREAT*, if it had memory.

Memory isn't as big a deal to me as it seems to be to many others. Just because I used a certain mode last time I used the light doesn't mean that's the mode I'll want next time.

I have to admit I would like the mode order better if it were either hi, med, and low or low, medium and high. As it is I find it a little odd. I understand the logic but I find one of the other ways works best.

I can certainly deal with it though. I probably will use medium more but when that isn't enough I agree it's odd to have to go to low just to get to high. That's the only thing I would change about the light.

I like the ring in the tail. I can see wearing this around the neck when sleeping in a tent or when rock climbing in the late evening when it might start to get a little dark before I'm completely off the rock (or even out of the woods). The low, low is good for an emergency as well and is good to have considering the small capacity of the battery.

Tell me more about this ITC light you speak of...it sounds very similar to a light I once had made by ITP.;)

If you take the battery out and gently expand the spring a little bit, your light will probably work normally staying in the correct mode as I had the same problem on my A1 but not on my A3,followed the advice from a member and all is good now.
