im trying to run several high power LEDs on a heat sink with a fan.
its a 12v .6 amp fan.

is there any electrical technicians here or anyone that knows how to design a circuit?

im trying to use a 15v 1 amp adaptor to power it
but im also power 3 K2 LEDs. is it possible to power everything with that adaptor?

if so how should it look?

not a certified electrician, just a n00b modder

I've worked with PC fans and they manage to run at 15V for long hours without damage, theres internal circuit control to prevent over current.

the K2s..mmm, the easiest was would be resistor drive. powering 3 K2s in series [~3.5v x 3] will set the voltage requirement around ~10.5v. From 15V, 10.5v is a pretty big step down for resistors, its possible, however, if you thermal epoxy it on the heatsink.

is it possible to add another K2 in your equation?
3.5V x 4 = 14V, all you would need is a 2.5 [closest value 2.7] ohm 1 watt resistor in series with the K2s :grin2:

according to K2 literature/spec, driving voltage ranges between 2.79 to 4.23, typically 3.42vdc
play around with this wizard http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz
have fun :)

I've been doing these projects also, mounting LEDs on heatsinks and run the fan and LEDs on one adapter, resistor drive is simple, cheap, lacks sophistication from DC-DC drivers, but hey...none of my projects have :poof:'d yet:crazy:
so far I've built 3 goose neck luxeon/K2 laptop lights and a few stationary ceiling bouncers...all resistor driven, running off USB

im going to regulate the K2 with this diagram
*going to use LM317T instead*

im planning to use regulators and a voltage meter to tell me the resistance of each circuit then i'll be able to calculate what kind of resistor i need.

iv been trying to do this project for about 2 months now and it suxs more every time i go farther...

i bought a intel 4 pin 12v fan...i dont know which wire is the positive or negative...
theres 4 wires
Black, Yellow, Blue, and Green.

2 of them or not needed which one do i connect?

thanks yuandrew thats just want i needed but found that out through trial and error XD

its the same for the 4-pin its just the blue and green is something else.
