Confused with Fenix 3 volt issue

Some confusion here. When I put a RCR123 measuring 3.8 volts into my P2D the light works in all modes. When I take the same head and put it on my L1D with a 14500 also measuring 3.8 volts, I loose all low modes. :ironic:

Can somebody smarter than me explain this please? :thinking:

3.8v is open circuit voltage. voltage under load is probably sagging more in the RCR123 for some other reason (age, exact state of charge, brand, etc.)

It sounds like the RCR123 is on its last leg. The voltage must be dropping to at least ~ 3.2v for all modes to function. One other thing to check would be the switch. One could have a higher resistance or not be tightened down. Try switching the tailcaps to make sure.
