First is a e2dl noticeably brighter than an e1b? Like in throw and spill? Looks like run time is about the same. And i assume the head and switch are interchangeable like the other e-series? And on the l1. Every time i search this light pops up. It most be the most popular led model. Why is that? Make me want one! Only thing i was wondering, will the l1 run on my ultralast 3 volt cells? About 3.4 hot off the charger.. I want one more surefire and not sure what i want. So anybody have any input on these few questions?

1) Yes, E2DL is noticeably brighter than E1B. It has more throw and spill.

2) Switches are interchangable. Heads are NOT (one is meant for single batt, the other two batts). At least, this is the case with standard SF batteries. I don't use or know much about the use of rechargables.

3) L1 - I have no idea why it is so popular. You'll have to ask the people who actually like that light. I found this forum last fall when researching high-end lights for the first time and also took notice of all the L1 fans. I bought one as my first light, but don't like or use it anymore. Can't stand the pressure type switch. Others love it. There are lots of threads on this already that you'll find.

anybody else? is the e2dl bright enough to be able to light up some thing with the e1b, then light the same thing with the e2dl and see a noticeable brightness difference? i think i want this light but i want to make sure it will be noticeably brighter. I dont want to buy something and then find out it is no better than my e1b.. So any thoughts??

You will really notice the difference, at least the difference between my E1B and E2DL is huge. It appears to be more than 50% that the specs claims.

I like my L1 for the ease of use, great beam pattern, right amount of light for high and low and most importantly no clicking twisting for the mode I want.

Your ultralast will work in L1, that's what I use right now, although the cells are crap and I've had 75% faliure rate so far.

I have both the E1B and the E2DL and the difference in brightness is significant. I was pleasantly surprised the first time i clicked on the E2DL. I wasn't expecting that kind of throw for a light that size.
