With all the new high tech Cree leds coming to market does anyone know what company was the first one to manufacture a Cree led flashlight? And I'm not talking one off or limited production runs I'm talking something that was available for sale on a site that wasn't made to order like a neofab legion II.

As I recall, the first light to see serial production was a boutique CR2 light called the Ion. It's made by Muyshondt, and it's still available in an upgraded form (called the Aeon; its bigger brother the Nautilus (123a) is also soldiering on. Both are two-level lights, designed for running extremely efficiently on primary cells and they both (I think?) choke on li-ion cells.

Do you mean just the Cree XR-E, or Cree LEDs in general?

One of the earlier major adoptors of the XR-E was probably Fenix.

Would it be the Fenix P1D-CE XR-E P4? That's the light that pushed me over the edge and turned me into a flashaholic. :)
