Newly Enlightened
I'd hoping to get info on the FREMO P201A external battery:
- I checked with Fremo's tech support, and their reply was "has a Lithium battery" ...
- The Wiki article on "Lithium Battery" mentions it is disposable (non-rechargeable). Huh?
- My less-than-informed understanding is that Li-Ion batteries have a chemistry with "native voltage" of about 7.2 V
- The FREMO seems to have a "native voltage" of 5.1 V, and a claimed capacity of 20,000 mAh.
- I'm especially hoping that the FREMO can be used as an external battery to the relatively low capacity Sony NP-FW50 with about 1020 mAh at 7.2 V for Sony a7Rii full frame mirrorless camera.
- However, the 7.2V vs 5.1V makes me concerned. I really don't want to risk harming my camera with incompatible voltages.
- I want to be able to do 4 to 6+ hour star trails with the FREMO connected to the USB charging port of the Sony a7Rii.
- On cool evenings, the Sony a7Rii will last about 90 minutes doing 30 sec star-trails in time-lapse mode.
- Oddly, the P201A is not shown on the ifremo.com website. http://www.ifremo.com/category/10
- The P201A definitely seems rechargeable, and has an LCD readout with what appears to be useful info.
