Hey all,

First of all, I hope I'm posting this in the right place. And if it's not, I hope a mod can put it where it should be.

Anywho, I recently got the itch to build my own dive light. But as I have very little experience with electronics (plz don't crucify me!) I naturally have some questions. I feel that if I had all of the parts in front of me, I could solder and put everything together but I need some help picking out everything I need.

I should probably start with requirements, so here is what I "ideally" would like my light to be:

1.) Canister type setup, size isn't a huge deal, but the smaller & lighter the better. I'm willing to spend the extra money if it comes down to it. i.e. Lithium ion batteries, etc

2.) 800+ lumens of LED light

3.) Dimmable would be cool, but not necessary

4.) I'd like to just buy a light head housing and canister. I don't want to bother drilling out a mag light or having one machined.

5.) Can handle pressure up to 200ft in water

6.) 2-3 hours of light on one battery pack

7.) I don't need a flood or a real tight beam. Somewhere in the middle would be great.

That being said, I've done a good deal of research on the net so far. I really like the look of the heads on this website: http://www.miemczyk-shop.de/ but I don't speak German, so I need some help with picking the right one. And should I get the canister from them too? Do they ship to the US?

LED's and their drivers are what really confuse me. I'm not sure if I should be looking at OSTAR, cree, etc. So given my requirements above, I'm hoping that somebody can point me in the right place!

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I just finished (again) my light using a Miemczyk housing. It should be good to 150m. I bought the TG-1 housing which seems to have disappeared from their site. If you do choose them, they have started putting battery canisters on the site now but the price is ridiculously high. One thing to bear in mind is that they don't do Paypal or cards - bank transfer only, like a lot of (IMHO) short-sighted german firms.
