Cutting down an L2D-CE

Since an L2D-CE fits in a Nite-Ize Mini Lite-Lok but an L1D-CE does not, I was wondering if anyone could remove 1AA's worth from an L2D-CE body tube. I was thinking that you could just chop out everything other than the threads and the narrow section (which fits in a Lite-Lok) and then epoxy/superglue/what-have-you the whole thing back together, minus the chopped-out segments.

I remember a thread where someone used that technique to make longer Mags, but I can't find it.
