While looking at the Flydragon SST90 light that was posted in the LED forums, noticed they had these for sale. Unprotected available, though according to the site, can order protected batteries at an additional cost. Thoughts on these for other purposes?

interesting...i wonder what the 'cost' for the protection circuits is.

op, i have 32650 protected and unprotected, but they are rated 5 ah, and have black wrapper, i have no complaints so far.
i also have 26650, unprotected, but they are different chemistry, and have orange wrapper, those too so far work fine.

these i,ve never seen before, nor heard of anyone using them, yet. but in general it is not a good idea to use li ion cells (li co chemistry) with no protection pcb, they might blow up, or discharge to the point when they wont take charge no more.
pcb's are cheap, also there are drivers that have low v cut off programed in them, so in that case it acts like pcb.
i use 4x 32650 protected in my 3xp7 light, and 7 26650 unprotected imr (different chemistry cells, safer than li co, they wont explode, but still are sensitive to over discharge), in 2 other lights.
few days ago i finished building a lantern with 2x32650 unprotected, but i bought protection pcb for around $5 iirc.
but i would not recommend use those cells you linked in series in multi cell light, unless you closely monitor discharge, cuz if one cells discharges fully, but others still had charge in them in series circuit weak cell starts reverse charging, and very good chance of it blow up, literally, with a boom. unless the light's driver has that cut off, or at least lets you know voltage is low, my l900 uses unprotected cells, but it starts blinking when voltage gets too low, if your light has that feature, than i wouldn't think twice to use unprotected cells.
i personally used many lights with multiple unprotected cells, from 2 to 56 in each, no explosions so far, but i never let them discharge too much,

As a confession, i'm back here in CPF only because i'm looking for battery options to power a NERF stampede (until i get some money from my new job, and get me a Quark Tactical). Someone's using Trustfire unprotected 14500s. someone else is using 18650s in modified AA to D adapters (just to keep the battery in the middle). I don't know whether the 18650s are protected, but the idea of unprotected 14500 near my shoulder, let alone something like these 32600/32650s

Current drain of a stock Stampede is 1.2-1.6A, with a 4x 14500 powered, 9KG piston spring one being 2.3A

Wouldn't mind the idea of some high powered incan too, but i cant' see these cells being AW quality
