Hi folks

I'm "Singer" from Tromsoe, up north in Norway. (THe land of the vikings and the midnight sun..hehe)

I've finally registered here and would like your opinion on my triple P7 mag-mod.

Watch my compare- video with the Darkbuster 24w HID on youtube.

plz give feedbacks ...suggestions on improvements and so on..

Now I'm working on a 5xP7 D-cell mag-mod also :)
I'll bring pics of that one later...

Nice work.

But personally I much prefer the beam of the DB. It has a much tighter spot . But I guess that is personal preference.

How do you switch your light on and off? Does it have multi modes?
May I suggest that if you make your handle a little wider it will be more comfortable when you wear it.

Hi again

I use the hipCC- driver with the D2flex-dimmer from http://www.taskled.com/

you'll find them in the pruduct list. These are the best P7- drivers around.. so far :)
Very good quality.

They har 5- mod dimming through PWM.

I use a magnet switch in the end of the light made from a standard

then I took a small neodym magnet from a hardrive an mounted it in the white plastic ring mounted to the cable glant.. it rotates freely. works great.

I trigger the light like this:

1. holding the magnet at the point of the reed switch = cycling through the 5 steps of the dimmer. when taking the magnet away, it stops cycling at the desired light level and stores it.

2. Letting the magnet pass fast by the point of the reed switch = turning it on or of. It remember the stored lightlevel from above (1.)

And the reflector are a triple cree from DX. drilled up gently to fit the P7- led. I made a extra heatsink whitch goes a few centimeters in to the barrell of the mag- body. here it is important to remove all painting at the heat dispatch- points and apply thermal paste. even the driver needs to be heatsinked... in my next 5xP7- mod I will mount the driver in the canister to avoid heating it up by the leds. It sure produses alot of heat :)

Yup, nice work!

I also use drivers from TaskLED anytime I can, and I have specifically use the hipCC for the P7 and MC-E builds as well - great little driver ;)

In the near future George (designer/owner of TaskLED) has talked about ofering a version of the hipFlex (basically a combination of the hipCC and the D2Flex) in a size that will fit inside the "D" size maglite - that will surely make multi-level builds such as yours easier to do and to wire up.
