I am looking for D-cell rechargeable batteries. Does anyone have any in mind that I should get just for a maglite?(I'm planning on having really bad runtime so I'll need a somewhat quick charge)

Re: Batteries?????

Moved this for you Bob as you will most likely get more results here in this section....sorry however I do not yet know how to leave a pointer from the other section to here....still working on this however good luck with your search....

Re: Batteries?????

If you need really bad runtime, then I suggest the Arlec 1200mAh ones you can find in supermarkets and grocers.

But if that's not the oddest requirement...

I have to ask what are you doing that you feel you will have bad runtime with? The Accupower Evolution D NiMH batteries are 10,000mA.....that's 10 amps. That's alot of power....particularly if you are putting 4 or more together.

when I ordered the ACCUPOWER EVOLUTION D 10000MAH NIMH LOW DISCHARGE BATTERIES from thomasdistributing.com http://thomasdistributing.com/shop/...html?SP_id=&osCsid=4a93400p58gia2dp0gmfujob82 I got something similar but different.

website: 2 D-cells in a package
delivered: loose D-cells without package

website text on battery: AccuPower, EVOLUTION

The top of the battery (+ side) has paper around the + pole and the -pole is flat metal.
Are these the same rechargeable batteries?

Have you considered using AA rechargeables in D-cell adapters? 2,000 mAh for Eneloops, but it charges fast, inexpensive, and holds it charge for a loooong time.

Yeah, I think I received the same thing, I ordered 4, but they were in basically a ziplock plastic bag when I received them. They looked the same as on the website graphic wise, but I didn't note if they said Accupower, or Accuevolution, I'll have to look tonight, you got me curious.

I'm assuming that they probably buy them in bulk and just package them up, instead of buying them in the individual cards. I'm also assuming that I got what I paid for, everything else I ordered from them, seemed to be on the up and up.

To the OP, these batts are essentially the same capacity or very close to a normal D Cell, so unless you are draining them hard, I don't see how your runtime would be bad. They will take a while to charge though, even with a 2000mah charger, they will take around 10 hours. Otherwise the suggestions on the AA-D adapters with AA batts would work, you just have to bend the tail spring so it can make contact with the AA bottom. With of course, a lot less capacity and runtime.

Since this came up on a search for me, though it's an old thread figured I'd update: AccuEvolution is just the newer name for the old AccuPower Evolution cells. Same company, newer cells (though I don't know if it's newer tech inside). Still good stuff apparently. Gonnna buy some to replace non-LSD Tenergy 10000's I have, which performed fine. I'll be seeing if I get overall longer use times with the LSD's.

I recently saw a recommendation for bearwobble; haven't used them myself, but I'm planning to order my next batch from there.

Yeah! Ran across that site too. Will probably order 4 packs from there. Kind of a hit on the wallet, but worth it to have reliable power for my P7 lights I think.

The Powerizer D cells are generally well regarded. BatterySpace has a deal on eight of them for ~$45.
