Anyone have any information about how these lights compare to each other?

Dereelight DBS V3 MC-E
Surefire M6 Guardian
Surefire 10X Dominator

All three boast maximum output of 500 lumens...

Hi there Iam new to this forum but would like to know the same thing out of the three which would be the best thrower of light,

Hi,

Since you are new. Any quad emitter LED like the MC-E or P7 will be a flood light, not a thrower at all. Well, the Solarforce L900M is a P7 and a thrower, but that one is the only one I have seen that is both: the bezel is also enourmous and I want one.

The incandescent lamps tend to be super throwers when compared to LED's of similar output. The M6 500 lumen lamp is definetly a flood and throw light, but the runtime is very poor. Unless you use 2 "C" li-ons then the runtime will be greater than 20 minutes.:D

That's not an accurate statement. In fact, there is a review that I did recently of 4 High Output throwers, 3 of which use a quad emitter.

In fact, the lights in this review I'm linking to all out throw the L900M. I'm thinking you just haven't had the chance to 'see' them yet. ;)

I think I am correct. Although; I will admit that if the diameter of the light is big enough and deep enough it will make a Quad emitter throw.
Lets assume the D26 size reflectors: One with a P7 and one with a R2 both driven to their max potential and the R2 will out throw by a long shot.
I have had P60 drop-ins in P7 from Gene Malkoff and Nailbender and they both never came close to the throw a Dereelight R2 I have.

If you have a P7 or MC-E P60 drop-in that can out throw a R2 P60 drop-in, then please share where you got it and some beamshoots would be much appreciated. The big bezel lights like the Solarforce L900 will make the quad emitters throw, but if you put a single emitter in that same light...well we all know the outcome.

Bottom line:
A single emitter will offer more throw. Have you seen a Tiablo A10 in person???? Well, that will prove my point.

Respectfully,
bigchelis

I'm not sure why you went off on a tangent for the single die emitters. Everyone knows they throw well. The original topic was on quad emitters. :poke:

Hence, the original posters question regarding the DBS MC-E. My point was to show that there are Quad emitter lights that were designed for throw, and do throw.

Hello Doc,

The best thrower of those 3 would be between the M6 and 10X. They are both non-led and have superb throw for their 500 lumens.

The DBS MC-E isn't even in the same league. For LED throwers that have 500 or more lumens, look to the JetBeam M1X, Sunlite 16wFP, EagleTac M2X, and the rare and hard to find, ElektroLumens P7 Longthrow. You might also look into the Legion II.

The M6 will out throw the 10X too.

A M6 with Lumens Factory HO-M6R bulb will raise the bar above the MN21 taking this light to the next level.

I used the Lumens Factory HO-M6R bulb in both a KT-1 and the Surefire M6 and IMHO this one throws the furthest of all of the M6 lamps available. The wa1185 is brighter, but to my eyes the Lumens Factory HO-M6R bulb still out threw it.

My vote goes for the Surefire M6 w/Lumens Factory HO-M6R bulb!!!!!!!!!

Check the market place and you can get Fivemega 3 17670 holders, 2 18650 holders, and even 6 17500 holders. Petev in the market place sels this tail cap piece that lets you use 2 "C" lion cells that will work with the stock M6 lamps. Bigger cells offer more power because they sag less under load (turned on). :D

:welcome:

Thanks for the replies guys it looks like the M6 is going to be the one to get, But what would be the max voltage u can put through the standard MN21 globe as i will be wanting to use rechargable batteries in it and the Li-ion batteries (16340) that i was thinking about are 3.7v and it runs 6 which will make it run at 22.2v instead of 18v how can i over come this,

Or am I thinking about it all rong

Have thought about the price but the way i see it is u get what u pay for but then saying that Iam new to this to but have a 8AX commander and apart from the batteries it is a very good light,

Thanks for the info u gave me bigchelis that does help heaps but dont want to change the globe but then might have to tho, Will look into it a bit more havent got a M6 yet still surching for the best opions.

Well thay are deff not cheap just picked me self up a M6 for $420 AU which isent to bad compared to what thay are priced at hear, and got all the goddies for it off Fivemega and it all came to a total of $1000,00 but thats with some extra bulbs and batts to so know just need to wait for it to all turn up

Thanks for all your help guys this place is great :D

yes, you're thinking about it wrong....

You'll need to do some studying here:

Hi,

This IS an inaccurate statement. Many of the MC-E lights produce LUX readings between 10,000 and 20,000 LUX. Compared to most lights out there, that's VERY GOOD throw.

Sure it isn't going to match a single die emitter in throw when using the same reflector, such as a DBS XR-E R2 producing close to 30,000LUX at 1 meter, or the Tiablo A10 doing around 40,000LUX,etc.

Just because the MC-E lights don't throw as far as some other lights they can still be throwers.

You said it better than me and ironically that is what I meant to say:thumbsup: I have seen thrower P7 and MC-E lights, and my favorate thrower quad emitter light is the Solarforce L900m. Still, I think the Electrolumens P7 that looks like a toilent plunger with the huge bezel will likely offer more throw than the Solarforce.

I digress, the Tiablo A10 just couldn't be beat by a quad emitter, but I had a chance to play with a custom wa1185 hosts by fivemega and that clearly put my Tiablo to Shame.:oops::oops:

Only the Legion-II is a match for the M6 and the 10X. There is a thread directly comparing the L2 VS the M6. Search around...

Now they have the IMR-M6, talk about next level!
