For NYC, keep in mind that Iceberg closed recently.

There's a hardware store next to J&R that has a limited selection of Surefires, and I believe B&H Photo also has Surefires.... at least they have them online on their store.

Paragon is THE best place to go to play with Surefires, the salesmen are very patient and they will let you play with all the flashlights (and knives) as long as you like. It is brightly lit though, so flashlights will look a bit anemic.
