Well, it seems that both XR-E reflectors and pills are available from Dereelight so you may still have a chance.
i looked at the website and the r2's are mentioned but not available ?
does any one know any more?

your right, didn't take the update ability into account.Heater, out of the M20, RRT-1, and DBS, I only own the DBS (3 of them) so please take my opinion for what it's worth. You'd be doing yourself a disservice not keeping in mind that the DBS is a modular light that may come out with newer pills.
357mag1, what pill do you have on your DBS? I have an R2 (Q5) on it and it looks a lot cooler than beamshots I've seen while being compared to the Jetbeam and I was right, those beamshots are of a DBS with a Q2-5A. That's less brightness so I can't really compare.
I know the Olight isn't modular and I assume the Jetbeam isn't either. I'll be waiting for the newer reflector and pill to make the most use out of the R5 and/or ST90 pills (which haven't been announced, I'm just conjecturing!).

The dereelight is not regulated for the cr123's? That means starts out bright, and slowly goes dim, or stays bright until the batts. poop out? Thanks for the info, trying to suck it up!
I also have 3 Dereelights. My DBS R2 is perfect white and I can change it to MCE pill. I use my R2 with OP reflector to even out the beam and it doesn't sacrifice too much throw IMHO. I am waiting for the 3SM pill to come available as I only see 3SD listed. Jay, any word on the 3SM?

If you design a reflector for a new emitter, it'll be a great light if you know, what you're doing!
As for the throw however, I'm not sure that the XP-G will really be equal or better than the R2. I'm no specialist of those things, but I followed a few discussions about emitting surface and surface brightness. Someone claimed that the XP-G, even if brighter than the XP-E, can't throw better because the emitting surface is bigger and the surface brightness lower. As I said, I only repeat here what I read, I can't explain.
Though, I'm sure the new DBS is a better light overall Even if it lacks some throw, it'll have more than enough and the hotspot is bigger, it'll be a more universal light. on't get me wrong, I expect a thrower, but my Cl1H with the aspherical head throws also better than the DBS-R2, but its beam is awfull and there is no universality at all!
The 18650 will give the longest runtime, about 3.5 hours, but will not be regulated... it will start out at full brightness but will gradually lose brightness as the battery's voltage decreases. When using two or more batteries, it will be fully regulated. The 1S version is the one to use for fully-regulated 18650 operation.
2 x 18500's will give about 2.2 hours on high, 3 x RCR123's will give about 1.2 hours. Brightness is the same, only the runtime changes.
The XP-G has a larger die than the XP-E, not the other way around. The XP-E has a higher surface brightness than XP-G with all factors being equal. They have the same footprint size but the emitting die is not the same size.
Thats exactly what i was looking for! Someone who had both. So Which one would you buy after owning both? Given quality, feel, finish, ect...? I ordered the rrt-1. Hoping there will be alot more throw than my m20 smo. Was going to do the dereelight, except for the change in emitters.
Maybe I'm missing something then. This thrunite xpg is smaller than the reflector opening, but an XRE fills it. Do the Xre's have a lens or something over it making it appear larger?
I had both but got rid of the RRT-1. It definitely threw farther with a smaller hotspot but was too heavy & bulky for what I wanted to carry around. The light just felt very slippery & unbalanced (top-heavy), I just find the DBS more usable.
Just my thoughts.
