Direct drive P7 or Cree off a AA-diameter lithium?

I have a minimag host w/reflector and lens. I was thinking about making modding it with a bright LED with possibly no reflector as a area flood light/candle, or with chopping the minimaglight reflector if it won't melt.

I could use a driver if I could fit one in, and use AAs. BuI know there are AA-diameter lithium rechargeable(14***?); can these direct-drive a P7 or a cree? I'm not sure I want to spend the money on a P7.

Also, I'm trying to figure out if my charger can charge lithium rechargeables, see this thread

Cree is a brand.
You need a boost driver to power a 3.7 volt LED such as Cree XLamps.

No boost because lithium rechargeable=Li-Ion. 14500 Li-Ion has 3,7V nominal. But runtime will be quite short.

About how much current do you get with direct-driving a P4 or P7 with a 14650?

Are 14605s longer than AA? Cause I could use two in parallel.

14650 is longer because AA is equivalent of 14500 (15mm shorter).
Current depends on Vf of the emitter and possible currents. P4 xxxxH has low Vf and you should get over 1A from fresh cell.
P7 has higher forward voltage and it has 4 dies and pulls 4x much as current. High current draw causes battery voltage drop. Assuming this you may get 2,8A (0,7A for each die) for a few minutes with fresh cell.
