I have a question about some of my lights using a r2 or p7 d26 drop in. Normally I run it with either 2 123 cells, 2 rxr123 cells or one 17670 cell direct drive. Which setup will yield the brightest output and will output increase if I switch to 2 123 IMR cells(Or a 18650 imr in a bored light?)

direct driving a LED with 2 cells?? I'm not sure that's really good for the led, thus, I recommend 1x17670

Would I see much difference between the regular li-ion and the imr cells.

You would be better off with using a protected LiCo LiIon for runtimes sake. 4.2 volts or so imput will over drive an LED with say a vf of 3.2 or 3.4, and yes it will be very bright, and good heat sinking would be a must have. Better to find a fairly high vf LED, closer to the imput voltage off the LiIon cell. No, do not use two CR123's or two CR123's direct drive. Direct driving a high power LED with three NiMh's would be ok, again trying to match the vf of the LED to the voltage imput of the cells.
