I live just outside Rochester, NY. I am going to move ASAP after I retire (or hit the lottery) to some place where they dont sell snow shovels at Wal-Mart.
The weather here sux. You get 3 or 4 months of OK weather during the summer, if it isnt raining. We got 130" of snow last year.
The taxes are too friggin high. $3800/yr property taxes on a 'modest' home. 8.5% sales tax. State income tax forms are more confusing than federal.
We have Hitlery Clinton and Chuck Schumer. Nuff said on that.
Cars last about 10 years tops. I have a '93 Escort that has so much rust it looks like a bad chemistry project (140k miles tho).
Worst drivers I know of (except Naples Italy).
The roads are ALWAYS under construction but you never see anybody working except during rush hour.
Very little variety in restaraunt choices unless you like something with tomato sauce. No Hardee's, Captain D's, Chic-fila, Krystal, Shoneys, Sonic, Churches, Mrs Winners, Chi-Chi's, Del-Taco, Steak-N-Shake, Carls Jr, Bonanza, Ponderosa, Western Sizzler and so on.
Bullistic fingerprinting on all handguns.
Up to 6 months to get a pistol permit.
I could go on but you get the idea. There may be worse places to live, but I know there are better places.
There is a suburb called Webster. The town motto is "Webster, where life is worth living"
NOT!
