Does anyone out there use a cyan led as their primary EDC?

With a cyan light in the dark, this is what I see: white, silver and gray objects are easily discernible, as are clear objects. Some red objects are black (an apple, for instance), but some are still red (scratches head). Green led's become orange. Red led's are still red. Orange ear plugs are still orange (that one surprises me). Blues are more easily distinguishable than greens, because most everything looks slightly green.

If there is some ambient light, in this case, from a night light, then the only oddball thing I notice is some red objects are still black when directly illuminated by the cyan light. Otherwise most things are easily distinguishable.

One potentially useful quality of cyan light is that it does not attract insects.
Outdoors it throws very well when shined at trees.
I can see the reflection of my 1 watt luxeon cyan led in a window that is about 200 yards away.

Matteblack - I have several lights using the cyan emitter - Minipro with Lux1, (to-die-for emiter), Camo Mag 2C, multi-brightness, 4x Lux1 (to-die-for emitters), IMS20s, 2x C Li-ion, and the M1 (SF infrared) converted to M1-90, with LuxV cyan emitter. All lights were built by Milkyspit.

While I do not EDC these lights I do use them frequently. I find the cyan emitters to be perfect for night walks, outdoor concerts, etc., where I need to judge the terrain. Cyan (to me anyway) illuminates the bumps and holes in the topography much better than the white emitters. YMMV.

Spin - try contacting CPF'er Milkyspit.

a friend uses a Cyan in the photon micro keylight thing.
its very bright , as bright as a white, i asked him if he wanted to change to white, and the answer was no.
it is only one color spectum, so i wont use it myself, cant tell color coded wiring and stuff like that, but its very bright and clean IF you dont need to see colors.

Hi, only just noticed this thread.

Cyan is a great EDC colour. I have used my ARC LS First Run Cyan Lux 1 as my edc for a couple of years now, and only recently swapped it for a green led with a mcFlood reflector - it was the flood, not the colour, I preferred. In fact just reading this thread makes me want to get the cyan from out of the drawer and edc it once again.

As some have said, fantastic navigation for walks on rough ground and rocky terrain, good depth perception, great for woods and country lanes. Doesn't have to be the brightest in lumens to get the benefits of this led over others.

Highly recommended. I must contact a modder and get some multi level cyan torch made, pronto! I wonder if Orb will do me a raw in cyan?

Incidentally, also has great 'Wow!' factor and generally everyone seems to like this colour.

Be lucky...

I have a Luxeon 3AAA flashlight that I converted to cyan. I knocked off the white LED with a chisel, glued on a cyan.
