Looking for a buck/boost driver that can take the output of a 4 cell NiMH battery pack and power 2 power LEDs in series. Does anyone know of such a driver?

DX3256 looks like it is a buck driver using a Zetex C300 IC, and implementing the sample circuit design here.

As I wrote before, the TaskLED Fatman might fit the bill. Just depends if the physical size/shape works (0.80" diameter, 0.26" max thickness).

Specs:
- boost driver
- 2.7V to 12V in
- 3V to 16V out
- trim pot can be adjusted to provide 700mA output current

The following sample application is given in the TaskLED web site for the Fatman: 4.8V 4 cell NiMH driving 2 or 3 series connected Lux3's or a single LuxV.
