Can someone confirm that driving Seoul P7, with regular flupic (1Amp max) have any adventage then driving CreeR2 or SeoulU2?
I was under impression, that one must drive Seoul P7 much harder to get increase in brightness.
Any Lm. Estimate on different levels?
Thanks folks for you help.

I don't think you would get any benefit of choosing the P7 over a Cree if you are only going to run it with 1 amp... Especially since the P7 costs more than the Cree/Seoul.

Most setups for the P7, that I've seen, are running them at about 2.8 amps. Running the P7 at this level will give you about 700-900 lumens, but I'm not sure what you would get with a P7 from only running it at 1 amp.

The latest bins available from Cree (R2) and SSC (U2) output around 280 lumens at 1000ma.280 lumens,1000ma,3.6 watts total,77.76 Lm/W.

An SSC P7 (C bin) should be around 320 lumens at the same drive current(1000ma).320 lumens,1000ma,3.2 Vf,3.2 watts total,100 Lm/W.

As current increases, the gap would widen. The multi-chip emitters can by nature handle more current more effeciently.

So,would you see an increase?
Yes.

Is the increase worth the difference (cost/package size/beam pattern)?
Thats a personal preference,to some it is.

Thanks,
Michael

FWIW, the standard Flupic is 1.2A on it's max brightness setting.

The 1A max Flupic is for the Seoul P4 LED to keep it at it's safe maximum current rating.

So, I guess to see some difference you have to drive it at list with 1000 mA.
Lowering current to 500 will kill difference at all.
I want to try this Led, but can't find real use for it, because all my lights no more then 800 mA.
Thank you guys for input.
