I have one of these hooked up with an LM317 and a 2-ohm resistor, which should be around 600mA, although my multimeter is broken. It is BRIGHT. How many amps can I throw at this and get very long life? One person on the reviews page said 700mA, but I'm not sure if he knows what he's talking about. I want it to last for hundreds of hours, since it's a darkroom safelight.

i used this cree also as nightsafe-light. 700mA is the maximum current ratet by cree.

Thank you. One of them is not bright enough for my application, looks like I need to order another.

Yeah, you can run two of them below max. spec. and it would be more of a safe bet to say that they will last a long time
