I have 3 of these on order..
Do any of you have experience with this driver? Good/bad/ugly?

All comments welcome
thanks in advance:thumbsup:

OK thanks I'll continue to search:thumbsup:

How difficult is it to trim/file down the edges? Do I just use a dremel and grind it down?

Looonnnggg thread HERE may be of help.

I've used them as a boost driver in 2D mags running a SSCp4 LED, works fine. You can also wire them to be single mode ON-OFF, look in the above thread for pics and details.

Careful if you go and adjust the pot, it only needs a little bit of a turn at a time. Those pots are really not ment for lots of playing, so decide what output you what, set it up and leave alone before if dies.

What are planning to use them for??

Thanks for that link!! (thank you too shakeyleg!)

Winter storm season is right around the corner so I am looking to add low modes to a bunch of my lights and extend some run times that way.

Romisen RC-N3-Q5 is the focal point. If there ever was a light that needed a low mode this is the one IMHO. Its a GREAT light... warm color tint, nice throw, useful flood, forward clicky, Great heat-sinking. But it barely gets 40 minutes at ~140 Lumens with an RCR123, which I find many times to be too short and too bright. Running off a primary drops Lumens and extends run-times, but I would rather have mode selecting options.

IMHO this light could give a lot of EDC favorites a run for the money if it had some low modes.

I'm going to pick up some more solder-braid and a solder-suck today and take it apart.

The hardest part (I think) will be trimming the driver to fit the pill and trimming the pill to fit the driver. I figure I can do a combination of both to get the desired result. The RC-N3 pill is a little under 16mm... FWIW.

Has anyone tried this mod to an RC-N3?
