Ok well I find myself looking for a new toy I edc an e2d and love it use it for everything but it sucks the 123's. I am buying an e1e also to play with so I figured I would turn these into rechargables using the lumensfactory bulb what should I run in these and the pros and cons of the various bulbs? ANd specific batteries and chargers? Thanks.

fivemega still has some E series Streamlight Strion bulb adapters available:

I use one of these in my E2D, it is beautifully machined and it works great. I think it is good for 70 lumens (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I couldn't stand to go through 123's with the stock bulb. Having the E2D rechargeable makes it useable. Now that similar sized LED lights are brighter though I find I still don't use the E2D :( Pity, because it is a beautiful light.

I haven't tried the Lumens Factory lamp assemblies. I'd want to go for the 90 lumen EO-E1R (available from Lighthound).

I have to do a couple of clicks to light the Strion bulb with a two year old AW 17670 battery.

Edited to add:

Just in case you wanted a LED option, koala's Rebel MicroTower:

How bright do you need he light?
Is runtime more important?

I would prefer bright I am use to useing my u2 and g3 with bog q5 b ut the stock bulb is bright enough nothing dimmer and only want more power as my edc I cant see me playing with it for an hour constantly on daily. So an hour or less nothing less then 30 min woudl be good. Thanks

I would get the EO-E2R with 2 RCR123 batteries. I am running it in my E2E and I like the brightness. Here is the link to purchase directly. http://www.lumensfactory.com/cart.php?cat_id=5&PHPSESSID=fab4834e634d1a75b07298a35b42f0d0

Good grief! The E0-E2R is 150 lumens?! I didn't think about using two 123 rechargeables. How much brighter does that look than the stock E2D? The FiveMega Strion adapter isn't much brighter than stock.

Thanks for pointing that one out FlashKat.

it's not 150 surefire lumens, it's 150 bulb lumens at 7.2V at 0.85A. I just finished updating the information in the compatibility chart to include some realistic torch lumen values from fresh to depleted cells... to get an idea how bright... compare my numbers to the numbers of other SF lamps in my chart to get a feel for how I rate differently than surefire, so you can get a feel for how bright the LF lamps will be in the E series setups.

If you haven't already ready through the guide/compatibility chart which can be found in a link in my sig line (or in the threads of interest sticky at the top of the incan section)

Thanks for updating your chart mdocod.

I didn't figure the Lumens Factory lumens rating was in SureFire lumens. That does make things more confusing. SureFire rates the high output MN03 lamp assembly for the E2D at 60 lumens. I don't suppose you know the watt rating of the MN03 lamp assembly?

Streamlight says the Strion lamp is 6 watts. Your chart says the Lumens Factory EO-E2R lamp is also 6 watts. Does that mean they will have a similar lumens output and I'd see no improvement by going from FiveMega's Strion adapter to the EO-E2R?

yea, the strion bulb on a 17670 will be about the same as the EO-E2R as far as brightness is concerned. The advantage of the FM adapter would be lower replacement bulb costs and the ability to use a single 17670 instead of 2xRCR123s. The single 17670 will give you more runtime for the output.

The MN03 is about a 5.5W bulb, so the strion/EO-E2R options will be a hair brighter.

All of the posts I have read on the EO-E2R that everyone has used this set-up has been happy with the output. There is a noticeable difference from stock. I think it's a matter of personal preference.

ok I have an that I am going to go for the 150 lumens factory bulb for my e2d what batteries and charger do u think I should use. Also how about the E1E I am going to orger tomorrow? Thanks

you can make do with a DSD or WF-139. I like the WF-139 better myself. make sure you get the cell spacers for it, and remove the cells when the light goes green to prevent overcharging. There are quite a few chargers made specifically for RCR123s but I haven't heard enough about them to say yay or nay. The WF-139 is far from perfect but charges RCR123s pretty fast. The advantage is that you can charge larger format cells later on if you want to expand into more li-ion powered lights. To learn more about proper charging and safety issues surrounding li-ion cells please visit the li-ion/incan guide.
