Hi,

I went to switch my torch on today and it wont come on if I keep switching it on and off it sometimes flickeres on. I have changed the batteries.

Although over the last few days when it has come on it has been flickering a bit.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi GW. Have you tried some new batteries? Also, try cleaning all the contacts and threads, and then re-lube the threads with a lite silicon lubricant like "Danco Silicon Grease" which can be purchased at Home Depot. If none of this works, then contact your dealer whom I am sure will be more than willing to help you out.

Rob

EDIT: You can also take off the end cap and make sure the silver metal retaining ring is screwed tight inside the cap. You can do this by taking a pair of needle nose pliers or pointed tweezers, putting them in the holes on the retaining ring and twisting it tight. Hope this helps.

GW,

+1 on LJs suggestion to check the tailcap. Flickering means an intermittent contact. Check both the tailcap and the head, make certain everything is tightened. Check the springs too, sometimes they can work loose. and a ++1 on cleaning contacts, threads, etc. It still amazes me how many parts can work themselves loose in a short time.....

I have unscrewed everything and tightened up again. The spring on the tail I have turned to tighten and still not luck :(

Ok just unscrewed the tail and the spring along with the buttonhas fallen out but I dont know how to screw it back round you cannt hold onto anything

I have two EagleTacs (P20C2 MkII and a P20A2 MkII).

On the P20C2 I had similar problems to yours. I had problems at BOTH ends on the flashlight, at the lens and at the tail switch. Both problems involved parts loosening up.

I would bet that the tailcap switch on your light has loosened up in its bore. Below is a pic showing the inside view of the switch on my P20C2. You will see the two tiny holes, made for a special tool. I made a "special tool" out of rubber hose and pieces of paper clip. Obviously (because of weak tool), I could not get the switch super-tight with this tool, but I got it surprisingly tight, plus I used threadlock when I re-installed the switch and it seems fine now. Or, you can do as suggested and use small needle-nose pliers or other tool.

The threads are reversed so you need to go clockwise to remove the switch completely, then dab some threadlock on the threads, then counter-clockwise to tighten.

Two tools to tighten up the switch retaining ring [in the absence of an OEM spanner from the light maker]

#1 is a straight-tip snap-ring pliers.

#2 is an adjustable trammel-bar spanner [made to fit just about ANY retaining ring]

Is that (adjustable trammel-bar spanner) the official name of the tool that one would use for this type of mechanism?

thanks
