I just bought one of these. Pretty happy with it.
It's this one here, http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/elmcl21l_EU.pdf
Good strong beam, XRE Cree supposed to put out 110 lumens.
Has a good feel to it. Machined aluminum, looks like stainless steel with rubber grip and pocket clip.
I particularly like the tail switch (Azoteq IQ switch) which you push and hold to get the desired light level, continuously variable). Came with 2 x Lithium AA's so I haven't tried NiMh's in it yet. Bought it here in Australia for $40.
It's my favourite light this week.
Anyone else got one, and their thoughts?

Hi, please pics or beamshots of the light?
Is a flood or thrower beam?
Does it really gives you 110 Lms?
Does the switch allows you to do one click to the max power?

Thank you.

It's got a pretty tight spot, so more a thrower I think , but does have some spill.
Press and hold the switch causes it to cycle from high to low and back again, so you just release it when you have reached the appropriate light level.
I have no accurate way of measuring the lumens, but in comparison to my Fenix L2D premium I'd say it may be around the 100 mark.
I'll have a go at some beam photos tonight (something I haven't attempted before!) and post them here.
Edit:........and yes one click gives you maximum power

Is there any method of operation which allows you to get it to come on in low and ramp up, instead of coming on in high and ramping down?

Parts look the same as the 1AA link above, except the 2AA tube is twice the length obviously.

Below are some photos, this my first effort so the results are pretty average

First on the left the Energizer 2AA indoor using Lithium batteries ( appears off centre but in my efforts to hold the torch and take the photo at the same time I may not have been exactly at right angles to the wall.......Mrs Flashaholic would not leave the television to help me!!), and on the right the Fenix L2D premium Q5 on turbo using NiMh's.

An outside shot approx 30 meters into a vacant block, Energizer left, L2D on the right.

Interestingly the Energizer has a lot of spill up close but is reasonably concentrated over distance outside ( both lights obviously have spill but the camera didn't pick this up). It was only just dark outside, I should have waited another 10 minutes.....oh well better shots next time. Given that the L2D is supposed to be around 175 lumens on turbo and the Energizer says 110 lumens on the packaging I am quite happy with the result, given the price and the very good build quality.
To answer Marduke above, I know of no way to get it to start on low and ramp up to maximum.

that's really interesting that energizer uses a cree; even more interesting is the variable brightness. where they lose me is that there's no memory function. it starts at 100% every time. :thumbsdow nitecore smart PD does it for me! UI perfection.

I just picked one of these up last night, cool but has anyone noticed that unless the tail cap is real tight the light does not work?

I know about the inner tube for the electrical current and I am thinking that maybe the cap just needs to be real tight because it needs to contact the tube but mine seems just a bit sensitive.

Looks like a pretty cool little torch! These will probably show up at Targets and Walmarts eventually for a good price.

Not experiencing that here, in fact i just tried unscrewing the tail cap while the light was on, and the light stayed on almost to the end of the thread. I have eneloops in it at the moment (I doubt that would make any difference though)
Maybe a faulty unit you should return.
By the way, I'm wondering what you payed for it (in the USA?)

Thanks for the reply, I bought mine at a local Gander mountain store , I paid too much (full retail of 49.00 US) I am pleased with the light and I was able to pick out one with a perfectly centered LED , I am going to play with it a bit more and if I still have the problem I will return it and try to find another with the LED centered.

Hi,
I just got one of these today, nice little torch.

It'd be better if it remembered the brightness setting rather than always starting at max...but it's my first with a continuous adjustment, so I'm happy.

Interestingly out of the box the beam was a little off center (not much, but enough to be noticeable), then I unscrewed the lens, reattached and the beam is now perfect, very happy. Don't know why, I suspect they screw the lens on too tight.

To unscrew hold the back and twist the lens plus clip together taking care not to foul the rubber grip.
