Hi guys,
Well I just deleted a long and lame explaination and comment. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Let me just say that I am doing the best I know how to and like everything in life, there are things I can control and things that I can't ( this sometimes includes my attitude and tongue). You don't need to hear my problems although you guys are probably the only ones who would understand them! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nana.gif
To stay in the topic of this thread, and for a newbie, who is McGizmo?
Well from my point of reference, McGizmo is a guy who has found his passion in led lighting and an ideal outlet for his ideas in creation and exploration. He is a one man, small company, seriously lacking in all possible types of resources with the likely exception of goofy ideas. The Aleph system has allowed him and others to place demands upon himself that are greater than he can handle and currently a source of great frustration. This is presumably a temporary problem. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif Now there are others involved in the Aleph program in terms of information being provided, components being offered, and builds being made. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif Talking about myself in third person is presumptious as heck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif However I think I was addressing a perception of me that isn't necessarily me.
With some of the praise on the Aleph system and even worse, misplaced cheers for McGizmo, I am concerned that expectations can go beyond the reality! Neither I nor my "products" are even close to perfect. In terms of QC, there are standards and expectations which are pretty straight forward and either the lights and parts perform as they should or they are rejected. When it comes to appearance or surface finishes and non-critical flaws, the line is not so clear. Due to poor economies of scale and the expense of components as well as time required in processing them and their assembly, these lights are expensive. Due to their price, it is easy to assume that they should have a level of finish that frankly they just don't have! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif
Perhaps I should state that first class Aleph lights have a starting price of $600 if and when any should happen to be made. In the mean time, what is being offered are Aleph seconds at reduced and more reasonable prices; reasonable being a relative term and subject to debate. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nana.gif
