Does anyone know if Fenix have any plans to manufacture a Fenix E01 with 80 lumens? I own an ITP A3 EOS AAA Stainless Steel flashlight that is great and I like the Maratec as well but the Fenix E01 is such a robust great size and shape edc with a fabulous grip.

I thought the point of the E01 was a long running, durable, low output light. Why change it, (which would necessitate a complete re-design, increasing, mass, diameter and length, adding a new driver) when you already have a dedicated high output LD01.

+1 on what has been said about the E01 but that being said, i'd get an 80 lumen E01 in a flash (as long as no purple tints)

I have wanted to swap the LED on the E01 just because it's so purple. Even those cheap keychain lights have whiter tints.

Give me a shout when the you get 80 lumens out of a single 5mm light, regardless of colour!..:poof:

But seriously, the E01 was made as a long running, low power light. No point having an 80 lumen single mode, and an 80+ lumen multimode

Not keychain lights with a Nichia GS 5mm LED in them, they have the exact same tint. :P Those other keychain lights use less efficient LED's, often over driven, which will shorten the LED light. Not to mention the coin cell won't run them very long in an emergency. E01 GS will allow you to find your way, even if you need to use it for 20+ hours straight.

+1 However not all GS have that tint, my Photon Rex's tint is much much closer to white. A 80 lumen E01 should not happen, it's against everything that the E01 stands for. A new version of the E1 however is a whole 'nother story.

hmm.. how about a E1 incarnate.. except with a high cri nichia led?
now that'd be damn cool!!

I think the E01 is the perfect size edc flashlight. I love the diameter being the same all the way along the barrel and the knurling feels awesome. The smaller twist on off at the top is great and very easy and smooth to activate whereas my SS ITP A3 EOS is rather slippery to hold and harder and stiffer to activate. Perhaps someone can suggest some oil for me to use on the thread?

.
The LD01 looks good I almost got one before the ITP SS came along at half the price.

As you can see I'm a newbie here but the response has been great.

well..4sevens is having a AAA coming out...very soon...and im very excited...................should be at 100 lumens on high!!

i didnt want to buy the e01 cuz of the purple tint, but whateve, for 15 bucks it makes a good light, simple to use, you can hand it to a kid, a grandma, or a friend and they'll work it fine =] so i bought like 5 of them.

The ITP is a very strong contender and is better than Fenix on a lot of points. But in my opinion Fenix still wins on quality.

The E01 was not ment to be a bright light. It was supposed to be lowerpriced, long running, and durable. Adding a powerful driver and a good LED would increase the price and change the purpose of the light. The bright light part is for the LD01.

If the iTP had more knurling, it might be more of what you are looking for.

Either that or ask a modder. Bring enough money!

I feel the exact same way, except mine's the aluminum iTP. The clip, as useful as it is, also makes it harder to twist the head, a lot of the time I go to twist the head, I end up twisting the clip.

I like the E01 for what it is. Don't see any reason to change it. Well maybe an AA E01 would be nice.:twothumbs
