Is it true I can only leave turbo mode on for 15 minutes at a time in the TK40?

I have a TK40 and i have left it on Turbo for a fair while (probably 20 mins or so) but i was outside, and it was cold, but certainly no issues. Didnt seem to heat up much at all.

Back on topic, i have the following Fenix's (i'll probably forget 1 or 2..)

TK10/11/20/40 E1/20 LD01 L0D (thats 8, i think thats all...)

Haven't had a failure yet. TK10 is my oldest Fenix, and suffered a fair amount of abuse i guess you could say, and its still going strong.

All of them minus the E1 have been submerged in water (just in a sink to make sure they are waterproof), no issues there.

TK20 feels to be the toughest, though its fairly new and hasn't even been dropped on concrete yet.

TK40 feels like its the weakest (other than maybe the E1, but thats tiny, so doesn't count) and that has been dropped off a filing cabinet (1-1.2 meters) onto concrete, and still works ok. I have written other stuff about my Fenix's in other threads...

So, in summary, Yes, i would say Fenix lights, particularly certain models such as the TK10 and i am sure the TK20, are reliable.

Just ordered the Fenix E20 Black Finish Q2 for use around the house. Still thinking about a TA30 or TK40 for outdoors.

I would go the TK40 out of those two and heres why:
Runs on AA
BRIGHT!!!
Runs for 160 hours on low mode, and low mode is still bright enough to use for most things really...
Can tail stand
BRIGHT!!!
Though not as solid as other TK Fenix's, seems to be durable so far.
Can run on 4 batteries if thats all you have, with no loss in brightness
Has usefull modes for camping (AKA Beacon mode)
Has nice evenly distributed brightness levels
BRIGHT!!!

Edit:

I should add if i was going to get any torch for the outdoors i would get the TK20, because its tough, rubber grip and good LED tint

I have many Fenix torches, ill share my experiences.

6x E01 - No faults - 1 of which i subjected to a brutal torture test. Drops (very high), throws, deep water ect.
2x E0 - No faults.
3x L0D q4 - No faults - 1 has had much abuse.
1x LD01 SS - No faults. Shelf queen.
1x L1D q5 - No faults
1x LD10 - No faults
1x P1D q5 - Started to flicker occasionaly, gave away to friend.
1x PD20 - No faults
1x E20 - No faults
7x L2D q5 - 1 Failure. Dropped approx 4ft onto tiled floor and it quit for good, something in the head failed, switch was fine. The other 6 have no faults.
4x LD20 - No faults
1x P3D q5 - No faults
1x T1 - Failed after i placed it on a hot plate on turbo, ran for almost 10 min then died. Before that it was heavily abused.
1x TK10 - No faults.
2x TK20 - No faults. 1 has had much heavy abuse.
1x TA30 - No faults. Shelf queen.
2x TK40 - 1 has intermittent switch problem, fails to turn on sometimes, requires fiddling with tailcap, otherwise fine.

So lets figure this out.. (using AU prices from the site i got mine from, some guessing..)

6x $18 = 108
2x $15 = 30
3x $60 = 180
1x $75 = 75
1x ? (going to guess $60) = 60
1x $85 = 85
1x $70 = 70
1x $90 = 90
1x $50 = 50
7x ? Guessing $80 = 560
4x $90 = 360
1x $90 = 90
1x $90 = 90
1x $100 = 100
2x $90 = 180
1x $130 = 130
2x $220 = 440

Around $2700 on Fenix torches!! wow.... makes my recent $500+ spree not seem so bad lol...

Pity about the 1 that died after a 4ft drop onto tiles, other than that a near perfect record...

And get that SS LD01 off the shelf!! it the only SS one out there, so it wont scratch, and mine is still looking good after a whole... week... on my keys :p

Never a problem with Fenix. My first was a TK10 that went through accidental droppings onto Georgian Bay rocks above water and under water. Still works great.

My latest is a LD01SS on 10440. Unbelievable quality and output.
