Fenix L2D CE as a rear light?

I am thinking about using a Fenix L2D CE with a red filter & mounting it on the seat post facing backwards on strobe, as my red flashing tail light.

Most of the time, when a car hits a bike, its from the back. So I figure use a bright flashlight instead of rear flashers.

Does anyone know at what lumens do the STROBE light up at?

Has anyone ever done this, or something similar to this, for a rear light?

The strobe setting is 180 emitter lumens, much of that will be lost with a red filter.
I have thought about using my Ultrefire C3 5-mode as a rear light by using a red filter with a diffuser as the Fenix L2D's are quite a bit more expensive.

The L2D is better suited for seeing where you are going but a rear facing one is certainly do-able.

BTW the Fenix red diffuser (not the filter) may be more suitable for a rear mounted light.

IMO a dedicated rear light would be better as they produce all their light in the red spectrum, whereas a white LED produces very little light in red.

Thats what I tried to say, it just cuts out all the other light leaving a little red. Not awfully efficient but it's not totally out of the question if for whatever reason you don't want to use red LED's.

Well, the reason I was thinking of using a flashlight instead of dedicated rear flashers/led, is for multi use. The flashlight could also be used for "normal" flashlight use off of the bike.

So, would the diffusor still light at bright lumens, though reflecting a red color? Or would the lumens be serioulsy reduced?
