Hello, I am probably what is considered a noob to Flashaholism. I have lurked here for some time and finally decided to join.

I plan to buy a Fenix TK40 but I am unsure of the best place to buy one as I live in a small city in NSW, Australia.

Would eBay be the best bet? It seems currently that all sellers are in U.S.A. at the moment. eBay seems cheaper than the official Fenix site.

I'm thinking about this one: [link removed - DM51]

Advice would be appreciated as soon as possible, thanks.

Welcome to CPF, Chicago Ted.

I'll move your thread to the correct forum for you.

I've taken out the eBay link; we don't usually permit them here. You would be taking a chance buying from eBay; there are dealers here whose prices are competitive and are a great deal more reliable.

If you do decide you want to buy from a Hiong kong seller on ebay rather than a US dealer, I can say that I've bought a number of fenix torches (not tk40) from ebay seller hkequipment and they ship to Australia for free and fairly fast. I've never had a torch from them with a problem so I can't comment on how they are for returns of faulty items. The tk40 is a bit more complex than usual (8 x AA batteries) and for that particular torch I'd be more inclined to use a US dealer with a known good track record for easy dealing on returns and even better if they are a member of cpf. There will be a few, you might want to watch out for the ones who insist on charging $39 for international shipping though.

Thank you, I realised very quickly after posting that the forum I posted in was only for questions to do with CPF.

Thank you both for the advice.

There are a number of Australian outfits that sell the TK40.
A bit more pricey than ebay but any service should be easier than HK or US.
Look here and here.

I'm not tryin to start an ebay vs vendor scuffle :touche:, and vendor support can't be beat, but there are no dealers I've seen can touch the $deals$ on ebay for a tk40...got mine under 120, other members have got theirs under 100 ....I bought it from a usa dropshipper most likely too...doesn't matter, their feedback was good and it was new and unopened and shipped quickly.

Consider the TK40 comes with a warranty though the manufacturer, and is a solid product to begin with. There are a lot of great lights you can't get on ebay, with the money you save on this one, you can get another you like from a vendor.

As an FYI, you can buy an itp A6 Polestar for 80 bucks (minus various discounts up to 10% available here), brand new.

It is floodier than the TK40 and uses 6xAA and is considered lesser quality, but if you are on a strict budget, it might be a good choice. Note: The quality is fine, its just compared to the excellent TK40 it drops a notch.

I eventually decided on the good deal for TK40 on eBAy. In the future however for other lights I'll probably go through sites like LEDlights etc. I am a little worried about not having a warranty and only have the 30 days money back guarantee, so let's hope that it does not fail for many years.

I have read a couple of threads about the TK40's circuitry breaking randomly. Is this just a remote possibility? At least it's almost impossible to break manually. :)

Thank you for the help everyone.
