I've been eyeing this light for the past couple weeks as I just love the design of this Nitecore homage. I was going back and forth to the DX site thinking of buying the light from there and then I started looking into other similar variations of this light at DX (MX power ML-310 and the SacredFire N-555). I Came really close to grabbing the MX power version because it can be used with both CR123s and AAs (RCRs and 14500s too) and can tailstand. But I couldn't bear the DX wait, so I headed to Shinningbeam and grabed the 1 mode version in gray.

From what I hear about Bryan's fast shipping, I'll likely have my light by Wednesday/Thursday. Can't wait to get it.

Bryan's great to deal with. I've also been looking at this light, I'm curious to hear what you think of it when it arrives.

Got my shipping info earlier today...light is on the way. I just love good customer service.

I recieved my 1 mode RC-A4 Q5 from shiningbeam and this light has really exceeded my expectations. The size is just perfect and I LOVE the look and feel of this light. I'm running this light on a RCR123 and this thing really surprised me with its brightness. To the naked eye, the hot spot looks brighter than both my Lumapower Incendio V3 and Quark mini123 (both also running on RCR123s) though I don't believe the romisen is pushing out more light overall than the other 2. The fit and finish is surprisingly good and the gray finish is just real professional looking. I like the forward clicky and love the whiteness of the beam. There is a dark ring around the hotspot but it doesn't bother me. The clip feels solid (looks good) and isn't going anywhere, but it is too tight and I had to pull on the clip a little bit so that the clip wouldn't fit so tightly on the pocket...this clip will definitely fray your pants if not adjusted.

If this light was made with a decent low mode (20 lumens or less) that would produce longer run times, I would gladly pay $40 for this light.

ky70,
Romisen makes a two-mode version; I have both, prefer the single, but there really isn't that much difference in the two modes.

I wish someone with the Nitecore version would give us a comparison. The Romisen is so good, I really wonder what we are missing.

Thanks Hatman. I know of the 2 mode version but the closeness in the modes is why I opted for the single mode version. If they would make that second mode a true low mode, I would be all over that light.

I recently read a comparison of the Super Defender light (which I believe is a Romisen variation) and the reviewer compared the light rather favorably to the Nitecore...of course the nitecore UI has more functionality but the Romisen variation held its own in other areas. Search for "Super Defender" and you should find the thread comparing these lights.
