Hello, To you, this is my first post, and i want to say, My name is mark, and I am a flasholic. But, I am in Good company here! Greetings to you all.
I work as a conductor for the railroad here in the Pacific Northwest, so there is all sorts of times and places to appreciate a good light. Its just comical how we carve up these surefires to jam a rechargeable in it!
Well, I just bought a very nice Reamer from http://www.mcmaster.com/
I got the 11/16 3/4, and it worked really nicely on the D3, for 18500's. Although, I really like 17670's with the extender and the 200 lumen bulb.
Finally the question! Those of you that have ground the insides of the M4 to accommadate the mucher shorter 18650's, do you experience a flickering with those unprotected jobbers in there? I really want to run that m6 hola.
Are some of you using protected, with this set up? I love my M4, with teeth. Baby needs a new pair of shoes.
My hands are sweaty and i wanna see the metal chips fly, but curious if there is some negatives about this besides ruining a barrel by the thin metal by the O rings....
Thanks for any info.

Welcome to CPF! As many say here, hold on to your wallet! Cause I tried to but now don't even have a wallet! :D After reading hburner's thread on his bored out M4 and the MN21 lamp, I was really wanting to try it myself. I didn't want to mess up the inside of my M4 body though so I looked for another option. Well here it is, the Leef body that can accept 2 18650's. The perfect body for the 500 lumen beast. An easy switch out Here's a link:

I believe you have to use unprotected 18650 cells though, I don't think AW's protected cells will be able to power this beast. Be very careful with unprotected cells, don't let them be discharged or overcharged too much. Don't want to have a instant IEF(improvished explosive flashlight) in your hands. :green:

That is sweet Supes, that was not available when I had to have the MN21 in my M4. But I have to say, people who new what an M4 was or had one, (not that many around where I live), where blown away when I fired up my M4 with the MN21. First thing they said was, What the H E L L did you do to your M4? Priceless flashlight moments are sweet/hb

Well, Thanks for the Link Supes, I think since i just got done working all night, i will just start reaming the original "devestator", if i screw it up....Theres a Leef body for bout fifty bucks....
That Leef Cat don't make a 3 cell body that will fit a turbo head does he?
I will report back when the metal splinters settle....
thanks

duckpotatoes,
For someone making his first post, you sure talk (or write) like a veteran CPFer! Don't forget to fill in your CPF profile.

The Lumens Factory will be introducing M-series lamps. If you think your MN21 is bright, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Linky?

BTW, I run 2 x18650 in my M4 w/ the MN21. I use unprotecteds, no problems. Unprotected batts get bad press, but I have never ever had a problem. YMMV

Yeah I want a link to info on these M series lamps. I have one of Leef's 2X18650 bodys and a M3 turbohead would work great for it with a high output lamp or even the regular M3 head.

Link to Lumens Factory?? If that's what you wanted here's the link to their site but I don't think they've got bulbs yet for the M4 - although I'm not up to speed on their stuff lately except I heard they now have the SF E series bulbs (yeah!) www.lumensfactory.com

There! I am back, Project Complete! Perfect success! In the space of Three Pabst Blue's, including the time shop vac'ing the metal outtta the carpet....
I will detail some of the particulars, in case some of you Fanatics, who would carve a 300 bone light up like a holiday turkey....wait, i have read you guy's posts......you would.
First off, Watch the thickness's there at the O-rings! I used the ajustable angle reamer, in the 11/16 X 3/4, maybe the one size smaller would work, certainly not the bigger. A vise, with the m4 barrel wrapped like a pig in a blanket, Spenco foot bed rubber thing. I used very little honing oil, and it came out smooth like a whistle. I was trying to put some zen into, being sleep deprived and a little loopy. Don't rush! I made sure to clean the barrel after every few cranks, and only taking a little off at a time. I made the hole " just big enough" for them 18's. Thay way the 123's in a pinch on the 61 won't rattle.
I cleaned it and nervously dropped some of those new 2600 18650's with mn21, and Shalomo! What a difference! The fella's at work will completely be convinced i'm nuts after this one...
And yes, the d3/ 9p can take the reaming, But, I have noticed that there is " less lip" where the outside bulb spring grips, so make sure ya don't go overboard with metal removal.
I found that the boring of the new style L4 body to take say pila's you can be somewhat more relaxed, the tolerences are not nearly so critical, so ham hand away with a cordless and a sand paper pad!
I very much look forward to that Lumen factory bulb to answer our twisted light needs!
Yea Paul, You are right, I lurked, and learned LOTs from you guys, trying to give something back now.
