DFW, Texas Flashoholic get together 2007 #2: It's on!

This one needs to happen.
There were a few very good members who were not able to make the 1st one of this year.
I'm gunning for Granbury, Tx for get together #2 before the end of the year.
There are some Hotels and motels in Granbury, Tx.
This time around, I would like to see flashoholics from other parts of the USA and the world come over for this one too.
Longshot? probably.
But why not try for it?

Let's see what happens.

It's not in Granbury this time.
It's dead center in the middle of DFW.

White wall, white ceilings and a dimly lit back corner for us to brighten up. :rock:
Great Wall Chinese restaurant/buffet.
I have eaten here a lot of times already and lived.
It's about $10 a plate with big buffet and a drink, plus a little tip.
It's right in the middle of DFW just off of I-30 at the nw 19th street exit.
It's just behind the fried chicken place.

I just reserved it for 7-11 pm Saturday night of 9-22-07.


It is reserved as a birthday party with LOTSA flashlights instead of candles.
The checkout counter lady's face lit up when I said that. :laughing:
It's presently reserved for 10 people with room for more to be added as this is a pretty good sized restaurant/buffet.


Don, if you can't make it for any reason, it's ok.
The Chinese family seemed interested in the extra $$ from thre rest of us showing up as much as anything else.

Also note that there is a nice mid priced hotel just a couple blocks away from here if the drive back seems daunting for any of you from out of town.

I might be game, but I'll tell you I REALLY thought about coming Saturday night but I just couldn't drive for nearly 5 hours each way!

Folks, if it doesn't happen in Granbury, I'll try for someplace closer to DFW airport for those flying in for this one.
I can even rent a passenger van to pick up any large concentrations of members from out of town at the hotel, and bring you all to the meeting place.
There is a good passenger van rental place close by to me, and yes, I'll pay for it just to see everyone's cool lights at the meeting place. :wow:

Maybe this time we will have a little more time to prepair and someone can ask Sasha to put up a banner on the home page for a day or two. I almost missed it last time, and I know LEEF didn't even know about it, I PM'ed him. I'd like to try to get LightEdge to attend (Local Dealer) but no one could contact him on such short notice.

I'll subscribe to this thread. Hopefully this meet will be HUGE!

Hey, I got my old route back.
The one that's a 600 mile a day round trip.

The 2 drivers who tried to take my place ended up doing so poorly, that it was funny. :laughing:
Now I'm back to doing it for more flashlight money this time around.

What this means is that it will be harder for me to pull this one off this time.
But I'm still going to make a go of it for a Saturday night within Donshock's timeframe.
(I think there's a Saturday night in there, have not checked my september calendar yet.)
His non-lethal shotgun magmod is quite a sight.

I now think it will be someplace on the north side of Grand Prairie close to where I am.
It's due south of DFW airport via sr-360 right in the middle of the DFW metropolitan complex.

Thanks for keeping me in mind. I had a blast at the first get together and I hated having to miss the second one.
BTW, the Saturday during my September vacation is the 22nd, my birthday.

There is a La Quinta Inn Hotel right by the chinese buffet restaurant I have in mind.
This where I am gunning for at I-30 and Northwest 19th street in Grand Prairie.
I'm also trying for the Apartment clubroom where I live nearby as a backup meeting place.

I have never lost a dfw get together to heck, hail, fire, hurricane, tornado, or high water.

As of right now, I'll be there. My vacation is still scheduled for that time. But the other mid shift operator at our plant just got a double hernia and is having surgery in a week. Supposedly he will be working "light duty" shifts a couple days after the surgery so it's not "supposed" to interfere with my vacation. But I'm not buying any non-refundable airline tickets anywhere.

And they always want to know why I never make big plans for my vacations. It's becauses something unexpected like this always comes up.
