Head, reflector, and Kiu socket surrounded in ceramic blanket material for thermal management. Space available to insulate batteries if desired.
  • Or Dual power option with 3xEMOLI = 11.1v nominal, 12.6v fresh charge run any 12v bulb direct drive: 50w 64610, 100w 64625, 62138 100w, 64623 100w.
  • With 64625 over 3,900 lumens

A great price for a nice light. Sorry it hasn't seen much interest, so I had to pipe in. The only thing I can think of is that not many people here have the ability to charge A123 cells. Once the firmware is avaliable for my charger for upgrade, I'll have to give these cells a try.

A123 cells can be and have been charged using other methods. I do so with a bench power supply and older schulze. Someone said understand why something is recomended before not following the recomendations. Makes alot of sense.

For some time these cells where not supposed to exsist as single cells according to the company. They only made the cells for Dewalt battery packs.

Now many brand name chargers are including A123 programs. With A123 program I heard can revive a cell discharged below 2v!!

That is one of the differences between A123 and Emoli. A123s do not suffer from over discharge. No need for protection curcits. If overcharged no rapid expanding fire. A123 and Emoli are leading edge technology.

I think Hyperion is leading the way with these cells and chargers, especially since they have teamed up with A123 Systems to offer SINGLE CELL - 2300mAh/3.3V/70g batteries with Hyperion branding!

Many people are liking Hyperion and their recent association with A123 systems helps sales no doubt.

Series charging is important for folks who want to charge batteries in the host. Have head great reviews about Bantam e-Station BC-6 Charger.

For our use in flashlights Emolis which have fallen from favor in RC groups have an advantage over A123s 3.3v nominal and 3.6v fresh charge
vs Emoli 3.7v nominal, 4.2v fresh charge.
A123 2300mah vs Emoli 26700mah, charge rate A123 4c vs emoli 3c.
Both handle the amp draws usual in flashlihgt incan. mods.

Emolis can be charged using current li Po, 4.2v termination or Li lo 4.1v termination programs.

4xA123 cell feel so light weight as compaired to "normal" cells.
Add to the mix A123 are reported to go over 1,000, 1,500 charge cycles and Emoli don't take the abuse as well as A123, abuse being overdischarging to less than 2v and able to recharge from there, but still have high cycle life.

Gives some long awaited choices to educated modders.

Jimjones, you have mentioned the possibility of a less expensive charger for the A123s...I am trying to find a way to justify this purchase. A charger that costs as much as the light does is not making that easy!
Oh, and a simple (really simple) to use charger would help...I like the "fiddle factor" very little, and just wnat to go out and play with a very bright light.

Smokelaw, understand "fiddle factor" and costs of new chargers.
There are many options with this light. It is built as a dual power 3xA123 or 3xEmoli. Emoli is less fiddling and more powerful battery 4.2v fresh charge. Emoli charge with any li io, lipo charger. Li io stops at 4.1v fresh charge and Li Po 4.2vfresh charge.

If you would like an inexpensive charger like above for li I have one can included for a good price if interested.

Most hotwire lights certain amount of fiddle is involved. This light might not be for you. Some folks here make lights with charging jacks for charging battery in the light.
