I was in a waiting room today and came across an ad in the Sept. 2008 Field & Stream for the Gerber Omnivore light. It says it will take a AAA, or AA or CR123 cell and has a 7 watt LED.
The Ad was a full page ad and the top 3/4 of the ad was a picture of a cell phone with this on the screen.
"A mans turkey call says a lot more about him then his ringtone"
Then at the bottom of the page is a small picture of the light and a few details.
This has to be the worst ad for a light that I have ever seen.

These Gerber Omnivores have been at the local Cabelas since last spring.

I took a look at one, but because the optic is hidden beneath the packaging, I couldn't see what type of LED was inside it.

Wasn't willing to pay the $39.99 to try it out.

It sounds like a pretty lame ad. They're probably playing the omnivore up as an outdoor light, but it's only .7 watts, not 7.

Yeah, Gerber has used the .7 watt Nichia Jupiter or Reigel in some of their earlier models... and all I can say is a BIG :thumbsdow.

I have one. Kind of sucks, really. It'd be the last one I reach for in an emergency.
