Get a Fenix P1D-CE now or wait for improved reflector? Or is the beam flaw even worth messing with??? TIA...

AC

Get one, my P1D-CE is now my EDC. Its awesome, 4Sevens is a great guy to deal with, and a friend of mine.

My Surefires now get lots of drawer time.

My thoughts too, get one. Mine has a good beam, no rings and a good throw for its size. With another reflector you'll loose throw.

Best regards

I got mine quickly before they mess with the reflector and lose the throw - The beam is no worse than other great lights such as electrolumens blaster and streamlight propoly.
The rings are only there if you study the beam looking for them
You could always but both...

It depends entirely on what you want to use the light for. If you want to use it to light up the wall or ceiling so you can study the beam pattern (like many CPFers do), wait. If you just want to use it as a flashlight, the plain reflector is fine and there's no point in waiting.

Thanks for all the great replies. I am GOING to use this flashlight, not criticize the beam pattern. I will get back to Fenix today, to get in going. BTW, I have a Surefire L4 that has been used daily for the last two years and has probably eaten 100+ CR123 batteries that I really love. It now sips 18650's :). It sure would be nice to snag a new L4 with the new CREE XR-E in it!!!

You mean their new (improved?) reflector will be worse than the old one ?

Is there any chance the P1 may be having a price drop soon ??

Or you could wait for them to start using Seoul emitters, which have a great beam with a standard reflector and a little more efficiency than Cree.

I was waiting for the new improved model but finally realized there is no indication that such a change is coming anytime soon, if at all. So I got one last week and I am absolutely thrilled with it. Mine does have the well known ring, but I couldn't care less. If they put in a textured reflector it will decrease the throw. If people in this forum didn't complain about the rings, I wouldn't have even thought about it. It's a complete non-issue for me. It's a fabulous flashlight.

And by the way, I have a Nuwai Q3, so I know what a smooth beam is and I do appreciate them. but the P1D-CE is great just the way it is.

I was also hoping for a price drop, but I didn't want to wait until flashlight season is over.
