Are there any places in USA besides flashlightlens that I can buy a bunch of flat glass lenses cheap? I need some that are between 40mm and 45mm diameter and about 2mm thick. I know kd has a great selection and awesome prices but I was looking for a source in the USA. Thanks for any leads.

Are you looking for a sheet of glass? Or like a specific pre-cut piece for a certain light?

If you are looking for just a sheet of glass, like a bulk buy that you want to cut, it might be easier to search for a company that sells that material.

IE.

Search borofloat or lexan or pyrex.

Just a quick thought :)

Gotcha!

Are you looking to build a light? Keep some extras? Modding a light? Etc?

When you say glass, do you mean true glass?

I too found nothing doing a few different google searches. I am sure someone on here knows something.

What do you consider cheap?
How many is a bunch 10, 20, 100, 1000?
You should specify exact size, since they also come in increments of .1

I want to make probably about 15-20 small lights around my home that will be used for backup in power outages. I just want pretty much what they offer at kd and dx but was wondering if there was a source in the US. Are the ones at kd and dx real glass? what is the most common type of lens used for stuff like this?

Depends on output.

A few will use single Cree XRE Q5's at 700mA and some will use 3 Q5's at 700mA...

Yes, the DX lenses are real glass. I ordered a whole bunch of all their sizes just to have spares (and avoid the hassle of cutting my own). Only thing is they don't offer double-sided AR coatings like flashlightlens, if that's what you're looking for.

UCL, Borofloat, Pyrex should be fine.

Then again, someone will have to back me up. Not 100% sure about Pyrex.
