Hi all having just joined the USCG its become apparent I could use a good area light for my rack. I have been looking around a bit and found this http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme gear/flashlights main/flash_cap.htm
though I cant seem to find any reviews on it or any comparable lights. I was wondering what you guys thought about it or if you had any better ideas. Some of my preferances would be red light(though any night vision preserving color is good) and if possible a magnetic base for my open rack and locker LED would be nice but incan is ok as well. It doesnt need to be fancy or expensive just durable. Any help would be highly appreciated(as well as beam shots if you have them :twothumbs). Thanks in advance.

Not sure I'd want to be using coin cells much in a light, might get expensive.

One light that I would use in a situation like that would be the Zebralight H50. It is a small AA light with 3 settings and a floody beam. The lowest setting is quite low and easy on night vision, but it is white. The light is very durable and comes with various attachments for using it as a headlamp, cap light, lanyard light, etc.

Another type of light for that might be the various round flat push-on/push-off lights that use 3 AAA batteries. They can be mounted most anywhere, or a magnet attached. Put them wherever needed. Convert one to RED LEDs, have one of each color?

Hi,and I agree with Alan B,I have one of the flash caps on my mag light,I want it for a back up or emergency flasher. For reading a puck light as said might be better,I glued a magnet to the back of one, works good.www.batteryjunction.com has the UFO area light that can he hung up and puts out a bright flood light.
