Hey guys, I picked up a few packs of Duracell AA Pre-charged Rechargeable batteries (1.2V / 2000mAh) and I found out that my old charger is a piece of junk, so I would like to buy one as soon as possible. The batteries will probably be used mostly in flashlights, a digital camera, and a portable CD player. I'm looking for a high quality product that is simple and safe to use. Thank you.

I use the Digital consepts 1 hour charger for those exact cells (excellent chooice of cell too).
Burgess, I read some previous posts about the MAHA charger and it appears to be an excellent charger. To be honest, I really don't understand all the stuff I read or the charts I looked at. So I guess my next question is....Is this the right charger for the technically challenged?

It can be used for simple charging, refreshing, break in and determining capacity.
Truth is, if you're going to use rechargeables, you need to bone up on them to get proper use from them and this forum has plenty of info and references for you to learn what you need to know.
The higher quality LSD cells available now will delay disappointments using rechargeables, but crappy chargers, over charging, over discharging, mismatched cells, etc. will eventually catch up and, at the very least, shorten the life of your cells.
The sale price on the 9000 now is only $10-15 higher than other cheaper quality smart chargers that don't do as much.
You can do as much or as little with it as you want. I think it's a good investment.

Thanks Burgess. I'm really happy to hear that it has a default setting. While doing some research tonight, I came accross the MH-C800S and I was wondering if you or anybody else here is familiar with this charger. Any good? How does it compare to the MH-9000C? I like the fact that it can handle eight cells at one time since I have twelve cells at this time and hopefully more in the near future. Also, would you happen to know if I could plug either model into a power inverter (500W / 4.2 Amps)to charge cells during a power outtage? I greatly appreciate the help...thank you.

I have a MH-C9000 and a MH-C800S.
I bought the MH-C800S so I would have another high quality charger to use when my C9000 was occupied performing break-in charges on cells (takes almost 2 days) or other time consuming tasks.
The MH-800S is a good charger. Compared to the C9000, it only has two non-programmable charging rates, it can't perform break-in cycles (forming charge) or dedicated discharge cycles, and it has no way of telling you how much capacity your batteries have.
It does have the ability to condition cells (i.e. charge, discharge, charge).

I'm a total moron when it comes to all things electrical, but even I managed to figure out the C-9000 in short time. It's simply a wonderful charger.
A timely reminder thread and I didn't have to <search> LOL.
8 of my Energizer 2500's began dropping out and they are quite short on charge cycles. This leads me to the so-so chargers I've been using. Just ordered the 9000.

Which is the current shipping version of the MH-C9000? Was this discussed elsewhere?

I recall Maha did improve the product after the early version, and that's good news, not reason not to buy. Good company. I'm trying to convince myself I really need another charger, this one, before the sun goes down...... errr ....wondering why they're low stock or out of stock elsewhere, could Maha be planning to replace this model?

I bought one in March and got a 0Gxxxx number.
Others have reported receiving 0Hxxxx numbers since then.
