Got a KL4 with a SEOUL from SF..Beamshots Added

Recently I was able to pick up a few Scoutlights.

When they arrived one of them had a Seoul in it!

I know there has been talk of the KL4 being updated, but has anyone else got one?

The KL4 with the Seoul looks brighter and seems that it will throw further.
It has a tighter hot-spot.

Seoul is on the Right

The one with the cold tint.

Right. It seems that Surefire uses very cold bin of SSC (SXP maybe?).

PS. 'DaFABRICATA' was faster.

are the KL4 meant to be that dim? from the pics it looks a bit dim.. the both of them..

It looks like a 5mm keychain LED. It's probably due to some POS camera...

Actually you are ALL WRONG!!

I have a nice camera, but had to adjust the setting so you can see the differance.

I took the pic in a completely sun lit room and put it on manual adjustment to get the difference.

I'll try to get beamshots when its dark out.

So quick to come to conclusions...:shakehead

I for one appreciate the beam shots. I've come to realize that they are of more value in relative comparisons.

It's easy to see how the Seoul throws further with its more intense hot spot.

Thanks for confirming what some have speculated. The KL4 head has been upgraded just as the U2 head was.

normally I would agree but...when taking pictures, especially with LED comparisons, once awhile the cameras CCD takes the color tint to an extreme profile...making a E01 look like a purple paintball on the wall...that sort of thing.

the beam profile itself isn't bad...but if I have access to a MC-E KL4, I'd consider picking one up anyday.

IMO, the P7 has a much better beam profile in a KL4 than an MC-E

Thanks for the comparison

I've been waiting a long time for the L4 to see an update. I look forward to being able to see the difference in beams for myself. Annoying that the KL4s aren't marked any differently with the new emitter though, could be a while before I'll be able to order one with any certainty that it will be the SSC version.

As for beamshots....I WILL get some tonight when its dark out..:thumbsup:

I agree that it would be nice to have some way of telling what bezel you are getting OTHER than actually looking at the emitter....KL4A?..:shrug:

How about the serial number? Is it formated the same as the "old" KL4?
I remember the dual output KX2's having a "B" in front of the s/n. Any such thing with the KL4A?

Thanks for sharing the beamshots. To be honest, I find I prefer the older Luxeon version's tint to the newer SSC's.
