GS35 triple led Dive Light 720 lumens

These look like nice lights. Good find. I've been looking through the website and it looks like they're using SSC P4 LEDs. There are triple and single versions available with warm and cool tints.

The runtime graph looks like direct drive probably with a small value resistor. The document is too low resolution to show the units on the scale though. I think that for the purposes of this light, which would be diving backup, survival or expeditions, the 3C/direct drive format is ideal and makes a welcome change from the hundreds of identical 18650 regulated lights out there. 3 cells in direct drive with a small resistor would run very efficiently and reliably.

NiMh would give some regulation and would dim down towards the end so you weren't left in the dark. Alkalines would give many hours of light at a lower level plus you can buy them anywhere in the world. I can't imagine the triple SSC would run well on alkalines.

I guess the single LED version competes directly with the Tektite expedition LS4 cree.

Good point regarding powering a backup vs a primary. I look at a 700 lumen light as a primary (for me) and so would like it to be small enough to use hands free.

There are many 18650 regulated lights out there but none that I've aware of that put out 700 lumen at that price in a well built host like that.

You can find something in plastic with pistol grips or something from DX that isn't as well built or perhaps something from Barbolight (U15 but it's around $600 or so). I forgot, from mb-sub the Photon or Photon2 however they're much more expensive as well.

Tektite has the Searay 12 for $300 with an output of 600 lumen using CR123a batteries. I guess this might be similar although I like the looks of the GS35 better. It's a 12 W light though using the SSC P4's (3). I'd like to see something using XP-E's.

What I'd really like is just to find a host like the GS35 at a low price!

I would modify a W200 or buy one from Packhorse. For a Backup light its ok to have no driver.

But for a primary i would prefere a light with a driver and constant brightness.

I tested only the standard GS35: its ok for backup, but its to floody for the "brightness" of the Led. - Looks like the 3-Led version uses a floody lens too.

I wondered about that image as well (optic).

I didn't notice the GS34 beamer. Good catch.

I would prefer one with a tight beam however it's done. These do seem floody.

Have a look on yorkshire divers someone bought a GS35...
The image for the tripple looks incorrect, it looks like its only one led using an optic... Possible the wrong image..http://www.tauchlampen24.de/popup_image.php?pID=303&invis=1

Still i would prefer one led as appossed to 3, the GS35 beamer uses a P7 as far as i can tell

You would think they would all be tightly focused. Who needs a floody dive light? If all you do is dive in the tropics you don't need a bright light in the first place.

This is why i would mod a light or buy a custom made.

If you're interested in building a light, you might be able to get hold of one of the barbolight B-15 hosts. Barbarin was offering a number of these empty hosts for sale (at a reasonable price) some time ago after the B-15 was discontinued.

Custom made doesn`t mean tightly focused. It means: you get, what you think is best.

You can also buy the GS35 here...plus many other torches

Here you can also see the tripple optic rather than the single on the manufacturers site
